Btx A is a prescription medical procedure and should only be administered by appropriately trained medical professionals. It is an extremely safe procedure with a safety record spanning well over 30 years. Nonetheless, it is still important to remember that because it is a medical procedure there are risks and potential side effects.

-Any time that the skin is pierced with a needle – you risk infection, swelling and bruising. It is advisable not to wear makeup or touch the treated area for 12 hours after treatment.

-Headache. Up to 20% of patients can experience a headache.More commonly it is a feeling of heaviness in the forehead region in the first week of treatment. This typically self resolves within the first 14 days.

-Eyebrow or eyelid ptosis. This is where either the eyelid or eyebrow visibly drops. True ptoses are rare, reported to occur in approximately 1-2% of cases. They can be due to regional anatomical variation, injector technique, poor compliance with post-operative advice or a combination of factors. If you have had a ptosis previously then you are more likely to have it occur again. Most completely resolve within 3-6 weeks.

-Double vision. This is rare but it can occur.

All of these risks are transient and wear off as the medication is metabolised by the body.

The effects of Btx A are temporary and longevity depends to some extent on individual client factors. For most people the results last between 3-4 months however runners or people who do a lot of HIIT/Weighttraining tend to metabolise it at a faster rate.

Pharmacologically Btx A starts to be broken down by the body 6-7 weeks post treatment. At this stage you may start to see a gradual increase in movement.

With repeated doses the lines and wrinkles often appear less severe because the muscles being treated are being trained to relax. Often your 3rd treatment course will deliver the best result.

Btx A treatment is best used as a course with repeat treatment every 3-4 months to maintain your muscles in a relaxed phase, with natural results.

Results usually last 3-4 months but individual variation is possible. Some people find it lasts longer and others find it wears off a little quicker. The duration is dependent on dose, how much you use the muscles we are trying to relax and on your metabolism. This will be discussed in your consutation at SK/N D6.

You may have small bumps and some redness at the injection sites. These will resolve within 15 minutes.

Most clients will continue with their day as normal after treatment with a few minor alterations -

-you should avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours

-avoid make-up for 4 hours

-avoid saunas and steam rooms for 48 hours

-avoid other skin treatments and excessive heat such as sun beds for 2 weeks.

Our philosophy at SK/N D6 is to achieve natural results, always. Faces are meant to move, and have expression, so completely freezing the muscles is not the goal of treatment.

By adminstering Btx A we relax specific muscles to allow any skin wrinkles exacerbated by the constant movement of these muscles to gradually smooth out. We aim to ‘relax’ not to ‘freeze’ the muscles, meaning you should look the same as before, only more youthful and rested.

We offer all patients a review at 2-3 weeks. We can always add more product if needed to achieve the desired effect at this stage.

Yes, Btx A helps prevent the formation of new dynamic lines and stops static lines that have already been formed from deepening.

The average woman begins to show signs of facial aging around mid 20s - fine lines around the eyes (crow’s feet) and mouth, as well the “elevens” – the frown lines between the eyebrows. Women tend to show the first signs of aging younger than men because they have thinner skin, less hair follicles and less blood supply to the skin of the face. For this reason men tend to start using Btx A later in life; around their mid 30s.

As Btx A can have a preventative effect, it’s best not to wait until your wrinkles or lines are deeply etched on the face and then expect an overnight miracle!

Many patients like to have treatment and consultation on the same day!

Btx A is a quick straightforward treatment, taking only a few minutes to adminster.

All clients are offered a review appointment 2-3 weeks of treatment and we are always more than happy to administer more Btx A if requred.

Unfortunately no top-ups will be performed more than 3 weeks (21 days) post treatment. We cannot ‘top-up’ after this point as it would increase your risk of developing an immunity to Btx A years in the future and it is not a risk worth taking!

Comprised of a unique formula of Hyaluronic and amino acids, Sunekos is a non-surgical injectable treatment that is suitable for use on the neck, face and décolletage.

There are two treatment types, Sunekos 200 and 1200.

The 200 formula is perfect for gentle improvements around the most noticeable areas, especially for younger people concerned about the onset of visible skin issues. It is also an excellent option for difficult to treat areas like the undereye area where there is crepey skin and antiwrinkle injections / filler treatments are unsuitable.

Sunekos 1200 offers greater support and structure for sagging skin and deeper lines. For best results, the two formulas can be used in harmony with each other.

Sunekos works by stimulating the fibroblasts in the skin to encourage it to produce a complete mix of collagen and elastin, so not only does it dramatically reduce signs of ageing, but the results look completely natural, and your skin is left looking smooth, hydrated and radiant.

Sunekos is perfectly safe for use across most parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, inner thighs, knees and under the eye. It can help the appearance of many skin issues, such as fine lines, wrinkles, skin ageing, loss of tone, dryness, dark circles, acne scarring, sun damage and solar elastosis.

Muscle relaxers (the same product used in anti-wrinkle injections) are used to target the large chewing muscles on either side of the face.

This treatment effectively minimises bruxism (tooth grinding) and helps to slim the face over time. Face slimming effects are seen at any time between 2 to 8 weeks after treatment. Treatment will need to be repeated to maintain and achieve optimal results.

Not everyone is suitable for this treatment. Consultation is required before proceeding to assess suitability.

Often a repeat treatment will need to be performed 2-3 weeks after the initial treatment. This repeat treatment is included in the initial cost.

Results typically last 6 months.

Over time as the muscle atrophies (shrinks), clients tend to get longer periods between treatments. The results improve significantly over the first year of treatment.

There is no downtime and you can resume normal activities straight away. The aftercare is the same as that listed for wrinkle relaxers above.

Hyperhydrosis is treated with several tiny injections of Botulinum toxin into the affected areas. This simple but effective treatment reduces sweating by around 90%.

Btx A works by interrupting the signals that instruct the sweat glands to produce sweat. In doing so, it dramatically reduces sweating, even in the heat or in stressful situations.

The treatment takes 15-30mins overall and is a relatively pain-free treatment.

Depending on the individual response to the injections, the treatment may last anywhere between 6 to 9 months. You will start to notice a reduction in sweating within two weeks of treatment with the maximal result after about 4 weeks. Repeated treatments may be necessary for optimal results.

There is no downtime and people can return to their normal activities after the treatment. It is advised to avoid any strenuous or heat inducing activities immediately after and to avoid the use of topical antiperspirant products for 24 hours.
